Choosing a responsible holiday does not mean giving up comfort. HireSicily’s villas combine environmental sustainability, gastronomic authenticity and wellness. Here’s how to organise an eco‑friendly stay in the Val di Noto.

Green accommodation immersed in nature

All HireSicily properties adopt ecological solutions: heating and cooling systems with heat pumps, double‑glazed windows, low‑consumption lighting and photovoltaic panels that produce more energy than they consume. They also promote waste recycling and the use of compost to fertilise the gardens.

  • Villa Giardino di Limoni – Offers a 25,000 m² garden where you can pick organic fruit and vegetables for free. The presence of animals, such as a donkey and hens, creates a small rural ecosystem.
  • Giardino Tropicale – Surrounded by two hectares of tropical plants and centuries‑old olive trees, it allows you to taste exotic fruits and seasonal vegetables. The energy supply is guaranteed by solar panels and recycling systems.
  • Casale della Pergola and SugarCane Cottage – They offer 25,000 m² of citrus groves and vineyards; the houses are built according to eco‑tourism criteria and use energy produced by photovoltaics.

Experiences related to the territory

Harvesting and tasting of new olive oil

Between September and November, the Val di Noto lives the olive harvest season. Mills open their doors to visitors to taste freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil rich in polyphenols. The local cultivar Tonda Iblea gives notes of green tomato, herbs and almond. Among the recommended mills is Frantoi Papèlli in Avola, where you can take a guided tour and taste the oil on warm bread. Staying with HireSicily, this mill is just minutes from the villas.

Nomadic kitchen at zero km

The “Nomadic Kitchen” experience offers a private chef and sommelier service. The menu is created together with guests using zero‑kilometre ingredients from HireSicily’s garden or small local producers. The bread is baked in a wood‑fired oven and the fish comes from a trusted fisherman. You enjoy Sicilian recipes learned from grandmothers and local cooks, paired with wines. After the service, the staff also takes care of the cleaning.

Sugar cane juice and Sicilian mojito

Sugar cane has been cultivated in Sicily since the Arab domination. In HireSicily’s garden, guests harvest, clean and squeeze the cane with a special machine. The fresh juice is drunk immediately and the more adventurous can prepare the “guarapo mojito”, a Sicilian mojito without refined sugars. Children also enjoy taking part.

Wellness and nature in Noto

The “Noto Experiences” offer Hatha Yoga lessons at your accommodation, ideal for reconnecting with your body and nature. You can try aromatherapy massages with essential oils distilled from Sicilian plants, take part in an aromatherapy workshop to learn to recognise aromatic plants and their oils, walk in meditation in the Vendicari reserve or discover the secrets of Mediterranean cooking with a hands‑on class.

Citizen science in the garden

By downloading the Pl@ntNet app, guests can help identify the plant species present in HireSicily’s gardens — the app recognises over 20,000 species — thus taking part in a citizen science project that enhances local biodiversity.
