Pl@ntNet is an innovative application that allows users to identify, catalog, and map plants through photos taken with their smartphones. Developed by a consortium of scientists from CIRAD, INRA, INRIA, IRD, and the Tela Botanica network, it’s a participatory science tool for automatic plant identification, funded by the Agropolis Foundation.
By using the app, you can contribute observations that improve the system’s accuracy. Currently, Pl@ntNet recognizes about 20,000 plant species, with a continuously growing database thanks to user contributions.
Guests at Casale della Pergola and Giardino di Limoni can explore local flora using Pl@ntNet. By photographing plants in the gardens, the app provides detailed information on each species, enhancing the experience with greater knowledge of local and tropical biodiversity.
